Hood Latch Receptacle
Now that I have finally done away with the electrical gremlins caused by my faulty ECM - I'm driving my car daily. I put a couple hundred miles on it this week and thought I should just check out the engine bay tonight.
A strange observation.... I notice that the drivers side hood latch receptacle is full of water (yeah I did get caught in some rain this week). I drained more than half a cup out using a turkey baster. There is no drain hole in the bottom of the receptacle (at least on my car) - so if water gets in there - there is no way out (other than evaporation). Is there supposed to be a drain on this piece?

Re: Hood Latch Receptacle
There is a small drain hole that I've found.
It's at the far aft end (firewall end) of it, on the OUTboard side. You can use a thin wire or a pick tool to poke around until you feel it, and clean out the crud.

Re: Hood Latch Receptacle
May I ask who repaired your ECM. I have one that has a problem that I would like to get fixed.
TIA Tom

Re: Hood Latch Receptacle
VetteMed - great info - thanks, that makes more sense. I fished around with a coat hanger wire and got the water to slowly drip out - but I couldn't actually find the drain - would you know exactly where it is?
TomTom - I ended up doing a swap with Kurt at Whiteracing ($400 - but faster). I had two solid recommendations for KandB Corvette Specialties ($325) to have it rebuilt - I have no experience with them however.

Re: Hood Latch Receptacle
The holes are at the OUTBOARD (NOT inboard like I said earlier) rear most corner of the latch housing, basically the lowest point of the latch housing when the car is sitting level.
Here's some pics to illustrate: Driver's side, looking at the firewall, latch housing is at top of picture, drain hole is where rusty stain begins: Passenger side, looking from immediately to the left of the latch assembly, door hinge bolt (white) visible to left. drain is visible in center of the pic. black object in lower half is the evaporator housing/blower motor housing. black object on top is latch assembly. -Andrew

Re: Hood Latch Receptacle
K&B did my CCM and ECM great to deal with. just a bit slower service than the will tell ya. I think they told me 48 turn around and it was a week. No biggie. But do ask them not to write on the service decal on the ecm unless you want your name on it in Sharpie, lol
