So this is the first time i have been under my Z sence i've owned it. I see that someone have unpluged the upshift solenoid and taped it to the side of the transsmission. Any idea why thay would do this?:dontknow:

So is this normal to unplug? I did see the 1-4 light one time....

Yes most members have defeated the "option" So yes its fairly common. If you want to see the shift 1-4 lift light again plug it back in. Im surprised you saw it once with the unit unplugged. GC

I would think the ECm will still fire the light with the connector unplugged
The ECM would not know the CAGS is unplugged

True Jeff I wonder however if the ECM/CCM learns? I know most of us have CAGS deleted at the PROM level as well.

ECM/CCM don't know if the plug is plugged or unplugged and does not care.
If the solenoid is unplugged at the transmission, idiot light will come on if CAGS conditions are met.
CAGS deleted from PROM also removes "Shift" light that normally comes on around 6800 RPMS (at least on my '90, later years maybe not).
I kind of miss that.
But to be honest, when the RPMs are up there around eleventy million you've got many other things to be doing other than looking at the dash for some stupid idiot light.

Plug it in and drive the car for 15 minutes and you will know why it was unplugged.Ive got the CAGS Eliminater plug I bought and never used it.This is a dead plug that will go between the 2 ends but still be plugged together.$20 shipped.

What he said.
And the upshift light still works on my 91. It will come on after a minute at steady speed in 5th and then goes out later if I don't upshift. Not much value to me ...
