Thought you guys might find this interesting. this is a mock-up/checker piston for a Comp. Elim. car i'm building the engine for. we have to squeeze the compression so hard i'll have a semi-finished piston sent to me so i can mock-up, then i tell the piston manufacturer exactly what i want/need for valve to piston clearance. notice this piston has no upper ring lands yet.

FR,

Very impressive. Huge intake valve! Do you do the machining?

Thanks for posting the pics. I always wondered how that is done.

sorry the pics didn't turn out as good as i would have liked, i tried with the flash on & off:dontknow:. i should have also mentioned this piston is for a Sm. Blk. Chev. with Chevrolet Splayed Valve Bow-Tie heads. have to have a GM part number to be NHRA accepted/legal in the class (C/SMA). i'm not crazy about the valve sizes but on this particular set of heads it wasn't my call, i got what i got:cool:. Intake is 2.20" Dia. w/7mm stem. Exhaust is 1.625" Dia. w/.3125" stem. i generally do my own machining just for the fact i want things the way i want them. on this set of pistons i am working with really good guys that do/understand exactly what i want, so i'll very little to do in the way of machining, which is kinda nice for a change.
