This would be interesting to drop the LT-5 in...

That would be awesome! A ZR-1 'vert would be badass... Looks like you'd need to find one of the Z digi-dashes though.

Is the history real and verifiable?

Outside of a new wiring harness, trans, shaft, and Dana swap. What else would we be looking at for the conversion?

Now look at the tail of the eBay one

that is NOT a wide body car as the seller claims

Not my cuppa tea; sorta piss poor "replica" IMHO. The problem starts with the rear: Tho the description claims that ZR-1 body panels are installed, it seems (to my eye at least) to be (at best) a valiant attempt at copying...but not quite making it (IMO). It may have some ZR-1 "looks like" trim e.g., rockers, etc, but it is easy to see at a glance (easy at least for us "Z" drivers) that it is an imposter! Then as Bob mentions, the dash, AND possibly the wrap-around cockpit of the Zs - was it used in '87?:dontknow:
It might have the license plate trim, but at the expense of the back-up lights - it does NOT appear to have the wider rear end, methinks:rolleyes:. Looking at the aspect ratio of the tail lights, and again (to me) it is a obviously a bastardized attempt at mimicking the KOTH.

ON THE OTHER HAND... Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So, trying to be objective now, if it looks good (and it does) authenticity aside, it might well be a fun project! (But...I cringe every time I see the ZR-1 badge on the bumper of imposters! Just MO, but then you did ask!;))

Paul,
the Pre-90 ZR-1s, Prototypes, mules, Pre-production ones etc all had the Digital Dash, but were fitted with an upgraded tach that went to 8K

Huh, it sure looked wider to me, but that license plate thing is a dead giveaway.
I guess he basically says so right here:
From there, the body was fitted with ZR-1 specific panels including modified actual ZR-1 rocker panels, ZR-1 style rear bumper, ZR-1 tail lights and ZR-1 license plate trim.
ZR-1 style rear bumper, and nothing about doors, decklid, etc.
There are some ZR-1 'verts out there though. I've seen at least one at BG (not in the museum). I'd guess you start with a Z and make it a 'vert vs starting with a 'vert and making it into a Z?

Bob did you see a yellow one? that began as a narrow body vert

I agree, pretty horrible replica.
There was a wrecked ZR-1 vert up in the seattle area about 7-8 years ago I stumbled across. Didn't have the cash or the room to store it as I was with a gf who was draining my money and in an apartment.

All he did was put on the convex rear bumper and a badge
