Looks like my oil drain plug has finally rounded off to the point that a wrench won't work. I've done some searches and have seen that NAPA sells a replacement, but can't tell if it works for all years.

Are OEM plugs no longer available, and if so, is there a preferred replacement?

Thanks,

Pat

Also if you want OEM, you might talk to WVZR1. He hooked me up with a plug and the gasket. The NAPA plug should work fine though. But their cardboard gasket, in my opinion, sucks...

I got one from my local Chevy dealer about a year ago.

Here's an interesting thread/vendor offering an alternative to the NAPA plug: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-zr-1-discussion/2216614-product-introduction.html

I bought a bunch of the Magdana ones, very good plug, strong 'Rare earth' magnet. The copper gasket it comes with sucks horribly though, you can just about pull the threads out of the oil pan from tightening it & it will still slow drip. I made my own plug gasket out of Nylon. Wish I would have done it from the start...

Thanks for the feedback on the gasket and saving me some grief.

I just bought a couple of the plugs but haven't used one yet.

I'll find something suitable before spring and trash their copper gaskets.

try a search on www.jerrysgaskets.com for drain plug. I have 3 different styles of drain plug gaskets and all were used at one time or another on the LT5
