I have the Old system with resonance except for the Resonator itself which is the new design. I bought a pair of mufflers off the CF forum that are newer. I called B&B and they said it would take care of the resonance. Now goldcylon is saying it is the Exit pipes....So WHICH IS IT? I am tired of getting jerked around. :( I have almost $500 tied up in something I may already have. I need a consensus before I spend any more money.

Actually I said its the combination of both the new style resonator and the grilled exit pipes. The changes to the mufflers were very suttle. The real pisser is none of the technical data is on thier website for obvious trade secret reasons. Since the "real" data cant be seen we turn to what has visually changed in the design over the last 19 years. The resonator and the grilled exit pipes has been the two major changes. And new B&B system owners swear buy the results vs the older style system.

if the Cones on the exit pipes also help with resonance, why not just buy the Cones then?

Summit sells just the cones

I already have the new resonator installed. Can I buy the exit pipes from them? How much are they?

if i might ask a? or 2 .how far out do your exhaust tipps stick?how mmuch clearence do you have fro that metal brace in the rear vanance?our exhaust systems i found are like a tuning fork .aftermarket hanger are too thin in the rear rubber mounts . also one should make the tipp go 2-3 in past the opening and at least 10-12mm oif clearence under the rear end that metsl brace . you might ck rons thread here on has anyone removced the mufflers.in it i shared what i did to stop my problem. a friend thats a noise control engineer actually helped me stop my problem. hope this helps . good luck .

I doubt it but Jeff is on target heres the cone ad from summit

Dynatech Vortex Insert Cones
Don't get caught by the sound police.

Rules--they're everywhere. When it comes to sound requirements, they can't be ignored. Don't take chances with sound control, or you may end up on the trailer. Vortex cone inserts from Dynatech easily install near the exit of the header collector or muffler outlet to reflect and dissipate sound energy, reducing the decibel level. Because the open area of the cones is greater than the area of the collector or exhaust pipe, there's no significant backpressure, so you reduce noise with little or no power loss. The cones are made from T-304 stainless steel and weigh less than 1/2 lb. each.

Well Harold...... I think im on target as well. D

I will do both the cones and the mufflers. Just go toff the phone with B&B and they said the mufflers will help. I assume I need the 3 inch cones.

BTW, I live in Mississippi. No smog regulation nothing. When I get an inspection sticker, they check the lights, horn and wipers..pay $5 and roll. I don't have to worry about that stupid crap around here...I loved it when I had my Z06 (staright exhaust headers no cats=D>)

I wish we could go that route in AZ but that isnt going to happen :thumbsdo:

This is BEFORE the new style resonator was installed...but gives a better angle of the tips

The new B&B system is pretty quiet inside and out. (mufflers/resonator)

sorry i havent got back to you sooner.work is gettin busy . if you extend the tipps at least 1in farther back you wont believe the difference. if the tipps arent extended out past the valance enough the sound has a tendancy to go up under the valance . if you look under there its metal and more metal is why i came up with what my bud called a buffer plate in between the mufflers and the bottem od the car . it only added 10lbs to the car .i will see if i somehow i can make enough time to make a drawing and get it posted for those who wish to try it . one thing to look for is the back hanger and see if that little l piece is solid in there or do your muffs move up and down .. i spent so much time under my car i got blister on my back . another thing i did was put hard nylon washers between ths spring hangers and the exhaust moutings . the resonance is a vibration much like a tunning fork . i think the new bandb resonator with those cones will help a bunch . they are much like the ones summit sells for headers . they didnt help me but there again they were installed in the collecters of the headers . but i am a neurotic mess with 5 extra sets of exhausts . i wish i only spent 500. more like 3k to get mine right . good luck if you think i can help pm me i will give you my ph and we can moan about how this stuff drives one nuts  oh ps band bdoes have some fine nipples i mean tipps

When I get the new mufflers installed, I will get them to fit them a bit farther back.

Mine is as quiet as stock even with headers.

is it still a 3 in exhaust ? if so then that new resonator and cone setup is very cool indeed
