Someone has two OEM rear tires for sale, 315/35/zr17. He says the tires are mounted on 1990 Covette wheels. (Not ZR 1 Wheels) When I looked up 1990 Corvettes, the wheels were only 9.5 inches, compared to ZR1 11 inches. Will these tires fit on 9.5 inch rims?
Thanks, Ken

Yes they will fit, however, they will look funny.
The tread of the tire will actually be a little wider than the wheel causing the sidewalls to be slightly concave.
I would think that this could potentially cause issues with the tire and maybe have a negative effect on handling.

this shows a 335 on a ZR1 11" rim. A 315 on a 9.5" rim would be even worse.

Max/min rim width for a 315 is 10.5 - 12.5" for a 335 is 11-13" as recamended my tyre makers

This guy selling them wouldn't be in the UK would he?? I ask because someone posted on a UK forum about fitting ZR1 tyres he had to a stock vette a month or so ago.

What he said. The tire needs to be approved for that. Every tire can be different, so check with the manufacturer. I wouldn't use it if it's not recommended that way.
Eagle F1 GS-D3: 10.5 - 12.5
Dunlop SP 8000: 11.0 - 12.0
Sumitomo HTR Z: 11.0-12.0

As 315's are no longer available over here, I talked to a Bridgestone tech guy and the bridgestone 335 is ok on our 11" rims, however I felt it would be pinched enough to affect the way the car handled and shipped a set of 315 F1's over from tirerack.

Years ago I fitted a set of 5 spokes on my Supra and fitted slightly over sized tyres on, in time cracks started to appear on the rear of the spokes
