Does the entire TB need to be bare for powder coat? Seems pretty delicate. Is there a how to? I searched for solutions. What all comes off? Any tips?
Thanks

I strip them all the way down.
There is a nylon bushing under the primary return spring that can’t take the heat. Be sure to Dremel off the spot welds on the end of screws that retain the throttle blades to the shaft so you don’t wipe out the threads.

Blade screw ends grown down.

Nylon bushing

Good time to replace the secondary stop screw with a hex head to make it easier to adjust

Phil, Speaking of TB. I still have two to send you. No rush I have plenty of other projects.

I am down to removing the blades - I can reach the rear of the blade screws in the two large ports, what about the small port on the bottom, is that supposed to be dremeled too? I don't have an attachment that will reach into the small port for the small blade.

Remove the stop pin inserted into the primary throttle shaft which will allow you to flip the small blade over and get at the screw ends from the front side.

Funny, they just called me this afternoon to come
By and show them exactly what to tape off on the throttle
Body, I have it disassembled but there mis part of the side that is exposed I was going to have powder coated. Anyone have any pictures of a taped stripped throttle
Body?

To avoid all this and any problems after reassembly, I painted my throttle body
with a contrasting color Hi Temp engine paint (matte black)
when I powdercoated my motor.
Red cam covers and metallic silver plenum etc.

Thanks, ran out of time, went to the powder coaters this morning, of course, masked off the obvious parts, the are two small veins on the drivers side of the TB and I asked them to powder coat if they could mask around them. Excited to get my stuff back from the coaters tomorrow hopefully!

While we on a similar subject, I am not powder coating the airlines, I don’t want bright polished look, I just want the clean stock looking air lines, any feedback?
