I took my left headlight off to investigate why it only opened half way and discovered the rolls in the gear had turned into a sand like substance. I already had a new gear and rollers so replaced them. I'm wondering if it was a chemical reaction between the rollers and the lube they used!

They where more diisinagrated then work out i think

The ones on my 91 did the same, I replaced them both at the same time. Interestingly my Lotus Esprit turbo SE headlights started doing the same, and when I looked at the motors, they are the same as the Corvette ones, so I just ordered 2 sets of dowels and replaced both on the Lotus.

Also my Lotus has the same Centre mounted high stoplight identical to the ZR1. I guess since its an 89 model it was in development in the UK the same time as the ZR1 and Lotus must have been on a parts bin robbing session of the GM bins!

Another ZR-1/Lotus guy same as me. I have a S4 and did the same as you headlight motors are the same as are a few other parts as well.
