The foundation had settled years ago, so I had to lift and support the roof and demolish half of the side wall.

Looks good Jim and glad the weather has worked out as well. Looks like it is getting close to a "break in the new garage party".

That happened to me in one of my homes. Lucky the house was new but they had to Tear out the entire garage slab while the garage was jacked to keep it from pulling it down.

With that much work you should raise the roof to make room for a lift.

That is a good idea, a lift would be nice. But the garage is not really in good enough shape to be worth the effort. There are several other areas where the foundation settled. There are very few plumb or level parts of the garage.

Here are a few more shots of the repair:

On the center column the 3 inch block is how much I raised the header to get the left opening level. The column on the right is all new construction. That side was raised about 4 inches:

Laying block. The jack columns and beam are supporting half the weight of the roof:

I still have to set the roof back down and adjust the garage doors. Then I can park a ZR-1.

Jim are you doing this work? If so when is the battleship grey going to be employed ? ;)

I did all the design and engineering. I did all the lifting, carpentry and repair to the structure were the wall shift damaged the top plate and three of the rafters.

Mike, the mason was a great find. He worked with my plan to restore the building to service. I had gotten estimates in the $10,000 to $12,000 range for the repair. Mike did the wall demolition and rebuild for less than $2,000.

I doubt that Lyndi would go for a Battleship gray paint job and she is the decorator.

WAZOO guys may recognize the hydraulic jaws we use to separate exhaust systems. I used it to pull the separated roof structure into a better position.

Wow I think you saved yourself a ton. Do you have the real estate for a possible tandum forward in the future? I think you might win that argument as a old Navy man. Battleship grey is a fine manly color and the garage is manly domain :)

yeah I said it lol

How is it looking to a Plumb Bob?

Bob says nothing is plumb, nothing is level, deal with it!

Sorry GC, Jim's a bubble head.
He's only seen battle ship grey while looking through a periscope.

He is a bubblehead. However as a Navy man he's seen his share of Battleship gray. Probably even chipped a little back in the day
