View Full Version : LT5 with an auto?
I know anything is possible, but how Feasible is it to hook an LT5 to an auto and have an ECM run both? I know the input shaft on a ZR1 ZF6 is a different length than an L98 or LT1 version, so how would one go about finding an auto for a combo that never existed? Also woul one just have to run an LT5 ECM and ditch the electronic 4L60E for a Hydrualic 4L60?
I ask because I am kicking around the idea of dropping an LT5 into my LT1 94 auto.

There is no code in the Stock LT5 ECM for an auto, so you will need to run a standalone controller for the automatic, which is not necessarily a bad thing.
You just cannot run it all from the LT5 ECM,
I believe as long as you use the MEMCAL for a 94 Z your current CCM might be ok, otherwise, that might throw codes (Never tried a P CCM with a J ECM)

I put an auto in my '90, and everyone said a dedicated tranny controller would be easier to wire in, than to re-code the ECM.
Of course, your PCM already is written for auto control, but ISN'T coded for LT5.
Perhaps put in a Z ECM, and wire in the controller. And put in a second fuel pump, fuel line, etc., ...
Will the Dana 30 (or 35?) rear handle LT5 power? Probably...

Car is already converted with a D44 3:45. It's 36 btw.
