Hey, y'all!

I'm in the market for a new radiator (to replace the broken one on my Z).

Suggestions/prices for a replacement radiator??? Frankly, the stock one with Marc's fan control program was more than sufficient for even some spirited hwy driving, so I don't think I need to go bigger.

Thanks in advance!!

P.

The question is "was the stock radiator sufficient to handle stop and go driving when the outside air temps approach 100 deg F"

I would just go with a Ron Davis Aluminum radiator and be done with it ;)

1. Ron Davis Radiator w/o transmission cooling

a. 1989-1996 C4 Type V8 All Part No. 1-16CV8996
b. Rated 800 Hp
c. Manual transmission

d. For the Ron Davis radiator the fan shroud inside baffles have to be cut back 5/8 inch so there is not contact with the fins of the radiator. Use a small cut off grinder for that task.
e. I cut the tab on the passenger side of the fiberglass radiator housing (the single tab with larger bolt hole that interferes the most with the oil cooler hoses). The fiberglass radiator housing then slipped on easily without further modifications.

if you use a stock replacement you'll end up with one for an auto car I think. I'd rather go aftermarket and then be able to pump fluid into the rad at high rpm then not

Thanks for the "future info" Cliff. I'll put that in my LT5 "stuff" file.

When I rebuilt EX5023 I just bought a six speed radiator from the local parts store. ZR-1 application.

I'd agree w Cliff. Just driving the ZR around a few weeks ago w the A/C on(picked up the wife from work) H2O temps went to 230 until I could get on the road. But stop and go is an issue with temps at 90+ and A/C.

I agree. Went with the fluidyne years ago and it has handled the Florida weather for thousands of miles without incident.

Excellent suggestions! Thanks guys!

Summary so far...in case someone else is also or will be looking...

90-96 C4 Ron Davis, two - row all aluminum, *Also available without Automatic Transmission Cooler - Part Number 1-16CV8996**

**slight modification to the shroud needed...C-link (http://www.rondavisradiators.com/W3SVC21/89-96%20vette%20instructions1.pdf)

EDIT:

My search engine for Fluidyne led me to a link for something else; NOT a Fluidyne product, as I thought at the time. The Fluidyne option appears to also be a good one, for a quality part for our ZR-1s, but NOT at $199...unfortunately.

Nice catch, Ron. Thanks for the headzup!:o:o

**Erroneous link to Fluidyne...removed**

Paul,

It looks like your link to the Fluidyine goes to a stock GM radiator.

Cheers,
Ron

Correct Ron, Fluidyne for 199, that would be a steal, photo is not fluidyne
