My wife and I will be there this next year. I couldn't make it last year because I flew to El Paso that weekend to pick up my 2003 Z06. I was passing the Thomasville exit late Sunday afternoon but wasn't in the mood for a detour after driving 1,800 miles.

Awesome car! Stay away from the modified ones--it gets expensive in a hurry. The more you have the more you want. If you're ever in Idaho, I'll show you 350s mild-to-wild. Nothing like a stroker but it'll get your blood going.

I load the photos as jpg's and you can resize the photo's (right click) to a smaller size that is able to be uploaded...I was given the resize feature as a download a few years ago and I think it came from the microsoft site.
Personally I like the way you and everyone else uploads the photo's, but I can see that it might be slower due to file size.

I got some help from Jerry D and Kevin P on an enclosed trailer. I spec'd out what turned into a fairly unique trailer. It sits higher from the outside because of what I did inside. I asked for 5,000lb 22 deg drop axles (actually got 6,000lb). Also, I moved the door back...but I moved it about 6 inches too far. I also should have asked about lowering the door 2 more inches. Beside that, it seems that it will work out fine. I need to do some mods to the approach angle for loading. Anyone have a good approach ramp? Ted

NICE TRAILER DEMPS---

A26B
08-26-2007, 09:35 PM
Hey Vader,
Trailer looks real nice! I can't tell if you have a hinged door/ramp extension or not. Shoot me a picture of (1) the rear of the trailer & (2) the door laid down. If not, you can buy the door bumpers that are about 3" thick & add the extension with a full width piano hinge. The approach angle can also be helped by raising the tongue of the trailer with the tongue jack while it stays hooked onto the ball. Just jack it as high as you can without getting crazy & it will help quite a bit.

If your doors don't clear the bottom of the escape door, just build enough ramp to get the doors to clear, maybe just a 2x12 (or 2) screwed to the floor.

c ya,

All looks good. I would highly recommend that you remove the alum edge trim on the leading edge of the ramp extension. If the tires slip on the strip, it rips it off, screws & all and could damage the car. (unplesant experience talking here) It's not needed.

Are you dragging the front spoiler on entry? Even with the front of the trailer raised with the jack? Describe issues.

Corvette95
08-26-2007, 11:28 PM
Looks exactly like my 20 foot trailer, I have no scrubbing issues when I load my 95. Could it be the angle of the street you are parking on?

Demps
08-26-2007, 11:37 PM
Jerry, I'll remove the strip before the next loading. The yellow car is the one I test loaded. It sits significantly lower than my others. The coilovers have the car slammed. The stock ride height cars should drive on fine. I have to "ramp" the yellow car. I think the 2x12s on the floor will help it all.

I bought my black/red car back. SGC 500hp with cams, 4.30s, fidanza, baer/GS calipers.

Have you tried just cranking up the tongue jack higher, while it's still hooked to the truck? It will raise the rear of your truck like it has 3" lift in the back:D
But, the good part is it will drop the azz of the trailer to get the Z in without hitting.

Thanks fellas. I love our ZR-1s. I won't be getting a new ZR1--I could get three of my favorites for one new one.

Kevin, I've figured the trailer out. The lowered yellow car is the only problem child and I might never see it again. B and M thanks for the compliments.

The 4.30 gears are not the answer for me. They are too low. My 4.30 car supposedly put down 437 to the rear wheels. At 40 mph in second gear the car cannot be "floored". First gear is useless.

4.10s with a top end/head package seemed too low as well. A 40 mph roll in second was about just right. I think 3.92s would be better with a top end/head p&p.

I did a post where I measured the 20-80 mph acceleration on a Vericom with a stock car with Corsas, a stock car with headers/X-pipe/B&B/chip, and my Haibeck 500hp with 4.10s. Interesting....

Needless to say, I love our ZR-1s. I've wanted a stroker since the beginning. I'm getting closer to that dream.

I have not picked the car up yet. So, no impressions.

415cid, LPE B cams (thanks FU2), no secondaries, stock valves. Marc reports that the B cams are quiet nice with simililar power to Stage III cams but with a little better low end torque and nice idle (850 rpms). Says the car hits strong.

Now we have to convince or twist FU's arm to put .228 exhaust cams in the 440ci to get over 600rwhp :)

Drove the car for the first time tonight--aside from the "acceptance" run. Oh BOY! Had my buddy with me that has an LPE 475hp '94. We were running along and I floored it-->he asked, "was that 2nd gear?" Nope, it was fourth, but it pulled like second.:D :D :D

The car has Baer two-piece rotors, GS polished calipers, revalved Bilstein shocks (my coil-over shocks--long story), B&M shifter with Hurst ball (sucks) and the 49th Street rockers and front spoiler. I want some headers but "someone" says keep it different.

I'm not sure how many years its been since I first became aware of your stable of 1995 ZR-1's but it's been "many". I've always admired the collection.

When I bought my first Corvette, the purpose of the mods I made were to make it feel and run as much like a ZR-1 as possible. While I had a nice 1987 modified Vette, I didn't realize how much more a ZR-1 offered until I owned one.

I recognize the small but meaningful improvements made between a MY91 to a MY95 ZR-1. With the help of Marc H. and a series of transparent (to the eye) improvements to my 91, I'm not sure you can feel a difference any longer.

I'd still love to one day a have 95!

In my opinion, the '91 has more of a sports car feel while the '95 has more of a GT feel...at least stock. I've always liked any/every ZR-1. I have found out no matter their similarities, each one has a unique personality.

Now if I can only find a Dunn head dark red (again), bright aqua, purple, & green...

Hi Demps.....

Did you sell the dark red one with the 49th street rockers? Reason I ask is, when I was at Dempseys shop a month ago he gave me a ride in a car that was identical to that one.....He just put in a set of cams and did a top end port along with new injectors......Car hauled *** on those open roads in VA....

I've been crazy about these cars for a long time. I think it was late '86 I had a Kimble cutaway on my wall. My true lust was an LPE385. In July 2002, a gentleman was offloading his car up North. I missed it by an hour. It changed hands a couple times. Heartbreakingly, it was separated from its glass top and takeout parts. BUT, I'm still ecstatic!

I've done some troubleshooting for drivability and think I'm there. The car hasn't had many miles over the last 15 yrs. So, plugs, x-pipe, VSS, rebuilt headlights, short shifter, & O2 sensors later, it's smooth! I have cammed 415 & 350 on either side of hp/tq. Quite a ride.

Which phone app are you using.....there are several?
Nice photo but you have a lot of photos in this thread that are not showing up :p

Yep. Photobucket sucks! So does the Registry web app photo-album-to-linked-photos. I've tried it even with resized 800x600 and the picture shows as a ghosted square. You can't copy & paste full IMG link...I have to delete part of the pasted link & retype it.

I used the Registry mobile app, started a reply and selected the photo insert icon. It allows you to access your phone photo album. Once selected, you can choose size. It's less than 800x600 but easy-peasy.

I've done my best to relink. PB even locked my own photos to me for downloading. Curse to them.

Use the mobile app & touch & upload. These may be double taps but a few I found interesting.

Looks like the Magic number for 1995 is 6

1990- 71
1991- 27
1992- 9
1993- 5
1994- 3
1995- 6

Total:121

(So it's kind of only my dream color combo. There are two 1990 black/Red for sale on cars.com right now. One has 70k miles, the other has 6k miles)

The Aqua looks terrific. The other two are great, but I really like the Aqua out of all the others you posted. It's dark enough to get some reflection in the paint, and light enough to be noticeable. I'm sure it really pops in the sun but looks pretty tame in the shade.

Naw...I’ve lost my mind. It’s time to thin the herd and diversify. I officially have too many.

I always wanted one of each color ‘95–short 2 (green & purple). Doesn’t seem like I’m going to make it.

It’s semi-funny that what you're selling doesn’t bring much but other’s asking prices are higher. Capitalism at its best I guess. Kind of just ruins it for me. I think I know where the market is on ‘95s [at least] but I can’t find what I want that is worth what I could get out of it if I had to sell.

My opinion: your car is set up as well as any car around. I would run it to 7,000 often.

Two yellows:
Yellow/beige with 4.10s & B&B...380 at the wheels
Yellow/black with 4.10s & 415 cid...555 at the wheels

Stock Z06...unknown at the wheels but guess is 550

What a difference. Each one is an epic thrill.

Thanks for the commentary Ted, and for the car! I agree with your assessment, the '94 is really nice. I have the stock exhaust back on but kept the headers. It is a REALLY nice balance of loud and throaty when I'm hard on the go pedal, but quiet when cruising. I had a chance to drive a stock '02 Z06 the other day, what a different car. Much smoother and quieter, very different "seat of the pants" feel. Seems slower but more refined. I'm glad I bought what I did, it is VERY engaging, which is what I wanted.

Yellow is my favorite! Ted, what # is your yellow/beige? I just missed #255 by hours last weekend. I dwelled on it too long and it was gone. Wanted it so badly! Beautiful collection. If you ever sell the yellow/beige (or find another one), I'm interested. Trying to match my LT4 with an LT5.

... I've been a bit obsessive about tracking the yellow/beiges over the years. I've seen #10, #28, #255 (four times now!), #380, #390, and two unidentified #s change hands in 18 years. I know there are 12 total. My LT4 is one of four yellow/beige/Z51/LT4.

Ted

Nice! I wondered if it might be #390, as I recall, Mark Barbacano bought it from Bay State Motorsports in 2002, then sold it to Steve Horton ~2004, is that who you bought it from? I recalled Steve had put 4.10s in it at some point, so was thinking that might be it. Last yellow/beige! I have pics of the car from 2002 when it was for sale at Bay State Motorsports, it had 4,500 miles at that time. If you don't have them, I'd be glad to send them to you (let me know where).

I wanted that car so badly before Mark bought it (and after, and still), but being a broke college student with one Corvette (same one I have now), no way I could pull it off. It had a B&B then, as well. My B&B from 2002 is also very loud with way too much resonance. I've never done anything about it, though.

A little bit of everything, unfortunately. Basically a rebuild. While in there, bigger valves were installed.

I have another at his shop now for a refresh. It has stock cams and a little less porting. Excited to get it back.

Hopefully picking up a near new car in Chicago this week. Road-trip home. Stop in Louisville for a few tours.

I've done most of my own work..this one is going to hurt. 💵
