Although Im going to run the Texas mile next year I wanted to see where my car would be in the ball park. A few facts about the car first. Its a 90 car #1931. Its got stock 3.45 gears. Has top end porting. Fidanza flywheel and Spec stage 3 + clutch kit. But no headers just stock exaust and cats with a borla. Makes 357rwhp 347ft lb torque. So this morning I go out to my favorite road. You guys know the one Lol! And I come to a complete stop. Zero out my odometer and just got the car rolling normally no drag strip type launch and nailed it. When the o.d went from .9 to 1.0 miles I was at 158mph. They both changed over at the same time twice. And that's with my headlights on. It was dark. So now I have an idea.
Speaking of the Texas mile I emailed Will Barrett last night and said since you own the baddest TT 385 ZR-1 on the planet aren't you the least bit curious to see what it would do in the mile. I said we need to go together and I'll video your run and MPH and post it on the registry. The whole ZR-1 community would love to see that. But he's a very busy man in the oil industry so the chances of that happening are slim. Paul Smith Dewy Slocom Bob Hall and Paul Denhert all ran the Texas mile years ago and until Robin ran his LPE 385 last year there haven't been any c4s running it. So chances are I'll be the only ZR-1 running next year.

More like brisket. There's only one place that I trust to do that at. There's concrete barriers on the left and right sides of the toll road and a four mile stretch where nobody can come in or exit out. The only thing that could go wrong is if I do something stupid. I wouldn't do that anywhere else. 0-158 in a mile is over before you know it anyway. But the car did better than I thought it would. I was expecting maybe 152 or so.

Save it for the airstrip, lots safer, your 158 is about right for what you have

With gas prices at $4.00-$5.00 of course Will is busy.
Counting all that cash is not easy you know your hands get tired fingers get dry and black, tell him i'll count the cash for him while he goes racing. LOL

I think Will should buy us all a tank of gas.

I don't even pay attention anymore to the price of gas. I just buy the crap. I have no choice.

oh, ditch the borla and get an exhaust that doesn't flow worse then the stock system Oh I know. I want to drop it off at Coreys for the headers X pipe exaust and tune if he ever answered my emails back on when to drop it off. He must be swamped right now. Have you guys ever seen Coreys custom built headers? They are badazz. He got the fixtures and tube bending mandrels from Geoff Jeal and makes them from scratch to fit each car perfectly. Ceramic coated inside and out. And he puts the o2 sensors in the right place. $1150 for them. And the word is they make more hp than any header on the market for our cars. I don't know if its been scientifically proven. I know two guys that have them. One makes 410rwhp. And the other makes 409rwhp. Both have top end porting from corey. One car was a 90 and the other was a 93. But those are pretty consistent numbers.

That link happens to be right on target Tyler. Unless you have been there and done that, you are very unlikely to know the reality of "what I really do." Just so happens, I have been there & done that.

Just so happens, I have been there & done that. I also agree. Almost 90% of the parts we make are for the oil industry. While people were complaining about how high gas is the owners of the shops would always say "Hey"! I can afford $5 and $6 dollar a gallon gas. But I can't afford $2 dollar a gallon gas. And at that time I just didn't get that logic. Now I do. The higher the price per barrel it goes the better it is for us people in the industry. The more money the oil companies make the more they invest which trickles right back to the machine shops that get the huge orders and back logs which = buying more machines and hiring more people to keep up with the demand. If your in the oil industry that's a good thing. If your not it doesn't do anything for you. That's just a fact of life.

Just a suggestion.
2" primaries headers
full 3" all the way down thru the mufflers,X-pipe.
Dynomax Mufflers #1728
Do not let anybody tell you you will loose power with a good free flowing exhaust on the LT5.

Pete I believe you. Im looking at the 3"B&B. I heard the old B&B was better because there was no restrictor plate. If that'd true can the restrictor plate be removed out of the new ones easily or is it not worth doing Pete?

B&B has changed there mufflers a few times,i wouldn't take the chance.
I would cut the B&B mufflers & tips, buy Dynomaxx 17228 mufflers (Al has 2 of them for sale $160 for both) weld the Dynomaxx to B&B system w/ B&B tips so you'll have the B&B look, balls out perfomance with good sound very docile.

I think there was a direct correlation to the price of gas in 2008 and the collapse of our economy. I have a feeling we will see a repeat this year. Pray I am wrong.

Pete So the dynamax mufflers are better performance mufflers than the B&B ones? If so that's what I'll do. I'll take em for $160.
