That is the cap from a 90 ZR-1 and all other L98 cars from 90 and earlier, I'm not 100% about the "earlier", but I know it's a 90. The newer master cylinders had a master with one large reservoir versus the 90 that had two small reservoirs. I'm just not sure when the change was made to the one large reservoir.

This seller has it, we also have it in stock, but a bit more $ than this.

It's GM part # 10159854

Awesome! Thanks for all your help. Its just that I ordered a replacement from CA and they send me something a little too small, and i try again and I get the same thing...and I wonder, is it me? I mean, I can read and I know my numbers....where's the problem...? Oh well. Cheers.

#10159584 as in the eBay link for brake master & it should do MY '91 and earlier. Who is CA?

If you have trouble getting the caps post back because I think if I look I have spare caps....they used to come with the GM master cylinder rebuild kit. I am almost 100% sure I have them some place in my tool box or in my parts inventory.

Hey folks. Let me know Tom if the caps you may have are identical to the earlier photos. I ordered a pair of 10159584 from gm. Too small! What gives? enclosed are photos of the actual Master cyl on the car, and the original caps vs the wrong ones (that everyone says should be right) with an OD of 2 1/16 ". The ID of my MC res are 2 and three sixteenths. The numbers on my original caps are PBR K818-013 RE2. Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!

Okay, I am going to go dig out the caps. Then I'll try them on my M/Cylinder....if they fit I'll post back and get your mailing addy and send them to you.

Tom

My caps are not like what GM sent you at all! Mine are just like what was on my M/C from the factory. I should add that I bought my rebuilding kit from GM before they went NLA on the kits.

Okay I just dug out the caps. What you ordered and received was the correct part. You just ordered the wrong part! I'm not trying to be funny either. The early M/C dual reservoir type caps come in two components. The hard center part with the writing, and the outer soft seal part. Let me know which it is that you need as I have both the outer soft seal and the complete caps from my original M/C.

Thank you for your help Tom! Now that you explained it, its so obvious. It was the hard cap I needed (and had). I guess someone had laid a heat gun or a soldering iron on it and messed it all up. Better now. But all the time /frustration when the fix took 15 seconds. I feel pretty sheepish. better go hug the wife.
