I had the car almost 2 weeks and finally got to take her out. It was really nice just to get away and take a drive . ( I've been working day and nite lately and I sure needed a break).
There are a few things I need to know about the car and I dont have the owners manual. Maybe you guys can tell me where to by one or if some one can copy it.. I like to know what all the buttons are for the seats and on the dash ..Its simple but there still might be some info I need to know.
I posted a thread about the engine making a noise last week , It seems to be a low RPM under a load B/T Idle and 2k rpm . You really cant hear it at idle( just a little) But when its in gear and just idling I hear it. It actually sounds like the old army pick up trucks with a diesel. The kind of rattle they make,But this one isn't bad. It drives and handles Great , No miss under a load no sloppy performance. So I'll drive her until I figure it out . It only has 34K miles and had Amsoil in it the whole time so I seriously doubt it is a major issue.. But if any ZR1 guys here pass thru TN you're welcome to stop by and listen. I have a spare room too. If I'm not here he doors open:) .

The ZF transmission is notoriously noisy, especially if it has been converted to a single-mass flywheel or the original dual mass unit has a slight bit of wear and tear on the internal spring setup causing a little knock at low speeds.
The dual mass rattle can be exasperated by anything that causes a less than perfect idle- like bad injectors or weak ignition etc.
The ZF might sound like it is full of gravel at certain resonances and some boxes have a pitched whine...either way, this is fairly normal and so long as the proper lube is in the transmission, nothing to worry about.
Mine used to knock about before i put in new injectors and spark plugs (my inj. were bad), but even now it will rattle a bit when i turn the car off and it speeds down to 0 rpm.

Thanks for the reply gentlemen, My car has new ( MSD? ) coils and the newer injectors. It runs perfect .... I just got myy oil in yesterday and on my way to napa to get a filter , then build some ofthe wooden ramps mentioned on a thread lately.. Thanks for the reassurance Mike..
JR I'll be looking for a 1990 ( yes the one in the glovebox ). Its not a huge priority right now But when a deal comes along I'll get one.. I have a few things I'd like to get for the car , Spare delete brace, change the trans fluid, a few little odds and ends, But all will have to wait until next month .. This month really cost me, I have my first payment due, 3 tags , 2 insurances, and the vette taxes.BUT I"M HAPPY! I got my car and just got a call this morning to do more work on a remodel I've been working on. yeehhaa.
FYI I have a 4 car carport and all the stalls have concrete except one , But soon I'm gong to pour a slab and build a concrete car ramp or a pit to drive cars on ...I used to be a pretty good mechanic and getting this vette woke up the sleeping giant :) Thanks

FWIW you may want to consider a 4 post storage lift instead of a pit. They work well for detailing the rockers, change fluids, etc. If you have the headroom you might even have room for a second Z.
