How fortuitous that you should be asking just as I was about to poll the forum to see what most of us are using battery wise.

I have an AC Delco in mine which is the same battery it came with when I bought it. It has served me well, but I do put a battery tender on it several times a month. Many people stay with AC Delco since it was the original manufacturer, but the original model is no longer available and has been superceded a few times. Others like the Optima, but you need to cut the top post, and still others like discount batteries like the K-Mart/Wal-Mart/AutoZone specials.

So while I will probably stick with AC Delco when the time comes, you may wish to get a few other opinions. Whatever you do, don't get a battery based on price alone, especially a low CCA to save a few bucks.

AC Delco here. It's probably 5 years old now. Battery tender stays on it when not in use.

I prefer the Optima, but a few mods will be necessary if its installed in the stock location.

I have heard a lot about these battery tenders, are there different ones on the market and for a person like myself who doesn't drive the car to often and have to store it for the winter months would I leave it on all the time. Is there a prefered brand to buy.

No, but you need a charger that will go into a storage charging mode. I got mine the the Corvette Museum.

Thank you, my friend just bought a new Turbo Porche and it came with a battrey tender standard equipment, it is just a small compact unit, this could be good or could be bad, he also has a 67 coup, nice car.

I have the Battery Tender Plus featured on this page along with many others.

You can put it on and leave it on without worry.
