One of the few things I do not like about my 90 are the seats. They just have too much give in the seat bottom and I feel like I am squeezed between the bolsters (and I am not a heavy guy). It is particularily anoying trying to get out of the car if you are parked fairly close to another car and have to be careful with the door. Its like sitting in quicksand - you try to get out and you are almost glued into the seat.
I know a few people have added a piece of plywood to the bottom, so I did that. It helped with the bolsters being too tight and getting in/out - but it now fellt a bit like a park bench. So, I finally found a good use for a yoga matt (they're about as common here as pickup trucks are on the prairies). They are made of relativelly firm foam rubber, about 3/8 inch thick. I chopped one up and added 3 layers of yoga matt on top of the plywood. Its just perfect now.

While I was rebuilding the lumbar air pumps I noticed that the seats only had two of the support straps yet there were hook up sites for three straps (as you can see in your first pic) so I bought all new straps and got extras so seats now have three straps....that made a BIG difference>>>

Also, I found that the '90 seat bottom straps tend to be not nearly as tight as say the '93 straps. I got a hold of a set of straps from a '93, they are white with black rubber lines on them, the '90 ones are all black/brownish. The '93 ones are much tighter elastic than the '90 ones, my '90 seats now are as comfortable as the ones in the '93. The seats in the '93 C4 I had (non-sport seats) were really comfortable, I could take long trips with no problem. I am 6'2" and 170 lbs though.
I'm not sure when they switched to the white, tighter style elastic so I don't know what the '91 & '92 cars have.

Need to clarify.... I rebuilt both air pumps and have in my ZR-1 parts bin but I went ahead and ordered the replacement pumps which came with the connectors etc. Down side these suckers are pricey at ~$140 per pump/piping/connectors but up side everything now works.

Interesting Michael.
I thought I had read somewhere that adding another Trapeze strap didn't change things much, guess that is not so. Will pick up a couple more and add one to the pass seat - then I can compare the two solutions.

Correct, but when I put a strap in the top position there is enough flex in the strap so basically the seat cushion sits on the seat frame...so decided that that strap was moot.
