It's coming together.
Much quicker than I thought it would. Thursday night after work got the cam covers on. Friday night got most of the secondary plumbing hooked back up and injector housings accept for breather box hoses. I shop vacuumed out the head ports just in case there might be anything down in there. I'm not taking any chances. I used course ss wool to stuff into the pcv area. But a 50 ml tube of loctite 518 was more than enough to do the job. Just lay a bead and spread evenly with your fingers. I've still got to do some clean up around the breather box in the front of the car.

I told him well of course it's not going to be as clean as your 2007. Now he can stick it where the sun don't shine. This is what it looked like before which wasn't bad for 19 years old. Haha! I agree. But the big jerk just had a heart attack while he was washing his 2007 and just got out of the hospital. So I have to be the bigger man in this case and sent him a get well card even though he has a big mouth.

I've got a chip thats made for top end porting but its programmed for headers and mine doesn't have headers yet so if anything it will be running rich. So what can I expect the first time I start it up? Will the engine chug a lug as the ECM does its calculations or what.

I hope you enjoy every mile! Yea, too bad about that guy & the heart attack. But really, I wanna see how the "tupperware" holds up after 20 yrs....it's easy to have a few yr old car look good...if colored plastic is to your taste..... Tom

This is where I left off on it last night. I may be firing this bad boy up today. All I've got left to do is cut some gaskets for the plenum and one for the throttle body to the air horn. Then bolt the brake booster back in. Maybe late today.
I put just a tiny bit of silicone grease on the injector orings and they went in and seated perfectly in about 30 seconds. Last edited by rhipsher; 10-11-2009 at 01:32 PM. |

Thank you for all those under-plenum pics (I saved 'em ), I have a folder on my computer full of LT5 pics like that so I can figure out where all the vacuum hoses go that I have laying around. The pics (actually, more like drawings) in the FSM aren't that helpful in that regard.
