Default Build Sheet/Build Date Questions

okay I had gotten a build Sheet for my car from the NCM..

the Date shows 90/016 and the time is 6:56

now I assumed that was the 16th day of 1990 which was a Tuesday, but while I was working on the seats I got with the car I found some tags with dates.. One of the seats had a label Jan 24 1990, color was listed as flame red. now my car was born flame red and some owner along the way changed it to black. I found that the rear seat shells were painted black from the red, as it was a quick/poor job. So my best guess is the seats were built or delivered around that date and I am thinking the seats are original.

So here are my questions:

is it possible the 90/016 is the 16th weekday of 1990? which would move the build to 1-22-1990

Also how long did it take to build a C4 start to finish in 1990?

Who else can I bug for this information

Jeff,
Here is a post I placed on the subject of build dates....

Oh...when you get the build sheet from NCM looked at top middle of the sheet and you will see:

DATE: 89/xxx and in my case my 90 #566 is DATE: 89/297 which means 1989 297th calendar day... so what ever you number is just count from January 1, 1989 and that is your build date.
This is what a build sheet looks like:

So Jeff... would say for your VIN the build date of Jan 16 1990 looks correct.

Days to assemble...assuming not delays took 3 days from start date to completion date (that does NOT mean it took three days to build since car could be 'coming down the line a start date at 3 pm and then on 3rd day complete off the line at 10 in the morning)

Michael, thanks, since my car was built January 16 1990 or at least started, but the seats show Jan 24 1990 as a production date.. so that is an 8 day build (or more) and like I said I am pretty sure the seats were original just buy all the tell tale signs

Take a look in the hood area just to the left of the drivers side headlight>>

If the grease pencil date survives (might be VERY faint) it shows the completion date... in my case that reads 10 27 89 and the build sheet shows a start (placed in production) date of 10 24 89 (297 calendar days into 1989). Production delays (maybe like sport seats not being available at time of production ) can extend out production times.

I think the hood has been replaced.. so yeah I am guessing maybe a delay for parts is what it was.

Also maybe the build sheet is when the order was requested? but not actually started?

Neat tip -- 11 08 90 for my 91 #1147.

Thanks a million, Michael. As I my search first showed me the suggestion of dropping the spare tire and checking for a date on the rear subframe I tried that but no luck but yours worked great. "3 27" showed up just fine (no year) and that fit with "03/90" on the VIN Certification Label and the customer delivery date of mid April, 1990.

Thanks again!

John

Kevin - Are you asking me or an earlier poster and if me, do you mean of the number I found? John

I was asking anyone who has a copy of their build sheet if they would mind making a copy of or photo of the ZR-1 in the corresponding letters on the bottom right of the sheet. I think it would make a pretty cool pic to have
