Crankshaft rear oil seal replacement
It appears as though I have a leak from the Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal. So, I guess I will be pulling the transmission and fly wheel. The job looks straight forward.
The manual says to install the new seal into the housing with Tool J37312. I don't have that tool. Is the tool available? Can I do the job with a substitute? Has anyone bought a new crankshaft seal recently and know a source? Thanks. Jim |

Can do it with out the tool, no problem, bout' the only ones that use the tool is dealerships, TBO. Just keep it squared up as it's going on. I keep a used one one hand just for this purpose, use it as my 'Tool'. Rear main seal is the same as any small block in a Camaro, pick-up etc., from the 1986 on up. About the only thing that is the same compared to an LT-5.

I can furnish the gasket & seal from stock. Easy job, once you get the flywheel off.

Rich, I can use the assistance, thanks. I am gathering parts right now and will be making the repair soon.
