Crankshaft plug...
Well, I was not aware of the crankshaft plug until after I made several attempts to removal the pilot bearing. Needless to say I am alittle worried about the possibility of oil starvation now. I can see the plug is in place, but I am hearing the margin for error is 1/4".
1)any way to know if damage was done? Measurements, etc 2)replacement procedure?

Re: Crankshaft plug...
Was thinking of measuring with a dial gauge on my spare crank and comparing to the one in the car.

Re: Crankshaft plug...
Does the field service manual have the depth listed? It does for the LS6

Re: Crankshaft plug...
Spoke to Marc Haibeck, needs to be pushed in 1/2" before it interfers with oiling. I will pull the Pilot and check proper sealing

Re: Crankshaft plug...
Replacement would not seem to be that hard, there is a stop to press it to....anyone done one of these.
NOT THAT I WANT TO FIND OUT!

Re: Crankshaft plug...
Ya'..just one of those thing that is better left undisturbed. If it moved even a tiny bit, then a guys worrying 'Will it Leak'? . Or if it does need to be changed on the car, did any of the original sealant manage to fall forward...another . It's no big deal to replace, most of the high end cranks I deal with are Rifle drilled same as the LT-5, but I'd much rather replace the plug with the crank on the bench, know what I mean buddy .

Re: Crankshaft plug...
Do you think I should put some epoxy around the edge to make sure it is still sealed?
