OK...maybe it is my lack of understanding as to what comes WITH the shock... does the piece that the actuator attaches to come with the shock or is that part of the actuator than you attach TO the shock top??

good question whether or not it comes with the shock, but once you remove the top nut that cup slides off the top, so i don't see any reason why that could not be reused..

otherwise, those shocks are a good deal for OEM replacement

quick call to Bilstein would answer the question correctly though

I have a spare set of shocks i bought with plans to rebuild to the moracca valving, but after driving the Z to a friend's house a few weeks ago, makes me appreciate the touring setting

I assumed those were non-FX3 Bilsteins that would fit a C-4 Corvette ???

Confirmed they are FX3 shocks for the ZR-1... what is confusing is the shocks came as shown in the pictures and the actuator mechanism is then installed onto the shocks.

When you get them from Bilstein, that's as they come. Just the shock body and upper cover. No gold cups, metal plates, actuators or anything. Just the shock.
