I was in Pennsylvania buying the "Black Rose". An interesting thing happened on the way out to PA. We had left the day before taking the enclosed car trailer with us to haul the Z home if we made a deal with the owner. We stopped in Zainesville, Ohio and got a room at the Red Roof Inn for the night. My heart about stopped when they handed me the room key.....it was #231......guess what the the Z's vin # is......you got it!!! #231.......like they say on the Blue Collar Comedy Tour "there's your sign".

My only regret...
...was waiting so long!!!
The Z was something I always wanted, but it seemed like such a far off dream. I stopped into the "toy store", as I do from time to time, just to visit and see what they had on the showroom floor - there's always something new to look at . (This is the same place where I bought my first Vette (a '95 LT1/M6 black/black) some 5 years ago.) What to my surpize...there sat TWO Zs! (Oh, still my beating heart!!!) I asked about them and what they were asking, but to make a long story short, they seemed out of reach yet again - a little closer, but still out of the question. When pressed for "a number", I left them with a ballpark figure and left for home thinking, "Oh, well...Maybe someday..." On that ride home I got a call from the dealer-owner/friend of mine. He had been out of the office when I visited, but heard I was interested in one of the Zs. He quoted me a price and I about The deal was several $ks better than I had hoped...and the rest is history and I've had a permagrin that has yet to diminish in the least!!! I'll bet my anniversaries are pleasant memories too! Say! I was born and raised in Spencer, IA - up in the NW corner of the state. I spent many summers on the "Campus" at Okaboji. Where U at there 'bouts?? P. |
