Default Nose to nose; Butt to butt; Side to side Part II

Can see why the C6 rear area is so much easier to access>>>>

For the side view I placed the front wheels on same line... not much of either car shows from side>>

Of course the 'eye candy' LT5 shot>>>

Parting shot>>>

I think both have merits although the perceived smaller look of the ZR-1 is appealing... but each to his own and glad we have choices

I also have a C6 and a ZR-1. When the Z's alone, the rear end looks MASSIVE, but sitting next to the C6, it looks really, really small. I guess it's all about perspective...

Nice stable!

Beautiful cars Michael. People tell me my car is clean and I say to them....you should see his! Hey, they are both awesome cars. My goal is to have a C-6 daily driver too.

I think the C4 was the last of the "pretty" Corvettes with finer lines. It had more classic sports car lines in the same vain as the XKE type of pretty. The C5 and C6 are more brutish looking and built to look more powerful. My $.02.

I agree...definitely the trend was to the agressive look..shark like. Interesting though are a few stats:

C6 weighs about 200 lbs less that the ZR-1 (MY90) and about 110 lbs less that the C5

ZR-1 (MY90)
Wheel Base- 96.2"
Front Tread- 61.9"
Rear Tread- 59.6"
Height: 46.8"

C5:
Wheel Base- 104.5"
Front Tread- 62.1"
Rear Tread- 62"
Height- 47.7"

C6:
Wheel Base- 106"
Front Tread- 62"
Rear Tread- 61"
Height: 49"

So what Vette Team has been doing from the C4 to the C6 is to lighten car, stretch wheelbase, reduce length and width:

ZR-1
Overall length- 177.4"
Width- 74.0"

C5
Overall length- 179.7
Width- 73.6"

C6
Overall length- 174.6
Width- 72.6"

The picture IMO do not show that reduction and in fact make the C6 look larger (might be the
~2" height gain??)

Michael,

They have pared away the overhang(front and back) and pushed the wheels out further to the corners. Wonder what a ZR-1 motor in a C6 chassis would be like? Heavier of course and the LS is definitely a more compact package.

As much as I like my ZR-1 and would never sell it, these side by side pics I think start to make the c4 looked really dated. C6 is really starting to grow on me, still cant beat the LT5 and rearend of the ZR-1. Thanks for showing them.
