Default My previous "Sea Trials" post>>>

I had posted under another thread that on this last Monday did my 'Sea Trials' in which was the first time after my 3 weeks work on the ZR..selectively replacing parts & fluid etc that I thought were 'nominal' that I took the ZR and ran it thru the gears (touching over 7K rpm) AND that it pass Virginia emissions inspections ... well I also posted that the only issue I found was a small amount of seeping of one brake reservoir (unit #1)...

Well replacement parts came in and I replaced both reservoir containers, base grommets, caps and membranes...
Here is the master brake assembly sans reservoirs>>

What I found might be of interest...one of those 'tell tail' signs of the master brake cylinder failure (leak) is staining of the master brake booster housing and the corresponding damage to the black paint on the booster... well I found a another (and less costly repair) source for the issue... the reservoir grommet fails and slowly lets brake fluid leak onto the master brake cylinder assembly which then works it was down to the booster then damages it..
When I removed the old reservoir etc I found the source which you can see here...notice build up (whatever you want to call it) on the grommet and the reservior base...this was the source of the very slow leak...

All replace issue resolved...
Crystal clear brake fluid and tight seals
