Went to dinner in Detroit area with friends at Eddie V's. This was parked in its own spot, under the entrance canopy. Not pretty, but its all business. I think someone from GM other than Mark Reuss

was driving it.

I'm kind of sorry to say this but, when I first looked at this car, the hood, the big F'n wing and all the aero bits, the 18 lights in the front fenders, the wheels, even the seats, I thought, "I just can't see myself driving this thing." I really like the C4.

I actually wasn't to crazy about it either but the more I look at it and hear the positive views, I'm liking it.....I know it has a lot of bling, but the thing is, all that bling has its usefullness,its there for a purpose not just the look..

Its putting down impressive numbers on the dyno ,almost 700 to the rear with a corsa x pipe.....Its also putting down impressive numbers on the track ....

In other words, I wouldn't mind owning one...

Yeah, I'm with those of us who love our C4 ZR-1. Performance for the price, historic speed records, ability to wrench on, low-aerodynamic-wide-rear-tire more subtle yet speed machine look.

However, I must say this. The C7 ZR1 is awakening a younger generation into the knowledge of and respect for the ZR1 Corvette. I've had more than a few conversations now at Cars & Coffee, and Car shows about it.

One 27ish young Camaro owner, after I looked at and complimented his beautifully detailed 2015, asked me what I drove there. So I took him over to my Z. Immediately, there was excitement when I said, a '94 ZR-1. "A ZR-1? I didn't know they built these in the 90s!" he exclaimed as he walked around it, looking at it like he'd just discovered the holy grail. lol. So, of course, I gave him a (brief) history lesson on it's design, engine by Lotus, 24-hour speed record, etc. He almost couldn't get over it, and took a bunch of photos of it which he quickly sent to another car guy friend.

I'm going to like this 2019 ZR-1, if not at least what it's doing to connect us crusty old guys (just talking about myself,

) to a younger car loving generation.

Yeah I am afraid "MeToo". It looks like a caricature of my car, which I think looks nice. too many "boy racer" add-ons. Yes, I realize they work on the race track but I spend most of my time on the street, and I still have to look at my car in the garage every day. So far I am happy with my ZR-1 successor Z06(though I still miss the ZR-1). And what's the that ZR1 badge? Looks more like ZRII. --Bob

Personally, I am of the opinion that the C4 was the LAST "pretty" Corvette. The shape is very harmonious, sleek, uncluttered and simple. Beginning w the C5, the shape has tended more towards the FUNCTION side of the Form follows Function equation. Perhaps the ME C8 will step back towards form. You can't argue about the Ferraris or the Alfa 4C being very attractive forms
Having said that, I would take the keys to a C7ZR1 without hesitation if given them.

I do agree any attention towards any ZR-1/ZR1 is more than welcome but put a perfect no mile 2013 Z to a new one and I’d take the C6 without hesitation.

It's a little "blingy" for me, but having seen two up close at the Indy 500, they are impressive. The big wing is basically track only. Looks silly on street car, but very functional on the track. It has a lot of hard angles, versus smooth transitions, but since it spent a lot of time in the wind tunnel, the design has a purpose. Heck the B2 I saw at Indy wasn't pretty, but sure meets the requirements to be radar silent!
