Talking Flowmaster and Chip Installed

Hey everyone,

I installed the Flowmaster #17115 Cat Back and a Haibeck standard chip this weekend. I am quite happy with the performance and am looking forward to hitting the strip to see what he'll do now. Seat of the pants tells me the car drives better and is a little crisper on the throttle now. There is no resonance from the exhaust except way low in the power band, around 1200 rpm when climbing a small hill is all I noticed. There is a real nice sound when on the throttle and it is quiet at idle.

The system cost $569.95 @ Summit Racing and there is an extra $6.00 shipping fee along with a $10.95 handling fee. I took advantage of those fees and also ordered a new serpentine belt and exhaust wrapping for the system.

Congratulations John, glad you can see some improvement.

I plan on getting the chip from Haibecks too when I can, so its nice to get some feedback from someone who's done it. According to the previous owner mine has a Corsa exhaust which presumably is similar to the Flowmaster set up.

Lots planned, will have to take my time though.

I just put a Haibeck prom and flowmaster mufflers on my '90 and I'm *VERY* happy.
My seat 'o pants dyno tells me the car is a bazillion times cooler and maybe smidge faster.
The prom was by far the best investment. My idle was never anywhere near 650, in fact it was all over the board, and it had cold start issues. I used to have to feather the throttle on cold start to keep it from loading up and dieing. Not any more. Turn the key, vrroom, 650 rpms. Pull up to a stoplight, 650rpms. It used to idle around 850-1100 at a stoplight.

The flows just add to the cool factor, not loud, definately deeper tone, maybe just a itsy bitsy, teeny tiny amount of resonance at about 1500 rpm, but heck, who runs a LT5 at 1500 rpm? From the back at idle it sounds kinda like a Ferrarri, kind of a "burbly" sound.

I just sent an iCalender to you. I am thinking that will be the first time I'll get out there. Long ways away, but I can't see going on the T & T earlier that month. We'll talk before then.

Please be sure to post your results or send me a PM or email. I am quite anxious to see what they actually might have picked up. I am thinking, based on Marc's and Hib's posted numbers, that around 22 HP would be what we are shooting for. The TQ and HP curves should be way better though.
