To drive the ZR-1 or not??
I have a business trip coming up where I need to drive to Oklahoma City, OK. I am considering taking the ZR-1 for this business trip. I have the choice of my 3 cars, 2013 Buick Regal GS, ZR-1, or my Jeep CRD. I'm down to the Regal GS or the ZR-1. It will be mostly a highway drive at this point.
The one point is that I will be driving by Stillwater, OK on my wait to OKC.

Re: To drive the ZR-1 or not??
THEE BEST long-haul cruisers I have ever ridden in! No car I've ever owned was as comfortable...well...at least after I replaced the "skinny-butt" 90 sport seats with base 95s (94-95 sport seats = OK too!).
Unless luggage won't fit, or unless you're needing to pull a trailer or the like, Take the Z! (You'll get great 'smileage!!')

Re: To drive the ZR-1 or not??
It will be the best drive you'll ever have. It's your own personal video game on the road. But like all cars, your butt will be sore after 5-6 hours in the cockpit. Take some longer pit stops.

Re: To drive the ZR-1 or not??
Hey! I like the skinny 90 sport seats, most comfortable seats I've ever had in a car. I agree, the ZR-1 is a wonderful highway machine, great traveling car. Definitely take it...as long as you have confidence in it!

Re: To drive the ZR-1 or not??
Some of us drive twice that far to BG or Carlisle every year with no issues. These cars were built for road trips. I'll admit it took me a few trouble free road trips to over come the fear of breaking down. Now, I don't even think about it. My biggest fear now is a flat since I don't carry a spare. I do have excellent roadside assistance, though.
Take the Z. You won't regret it.

Re: To drive the ZR-1 or not??
I have driven mine to AZ a few times which results in a 800 mile round trip plus local mileage in town. These trips were one, to visit the ZFDoc, then the others were due having no other car available-- my DD had a transmission issue and was at the dealer for warranty work, and that my C6 has no spare tire...
Got up to 140 mph in fourth once and I even got rained on and saw snowflakes. It was comfortable. |
