Cool New beast master

Hey folks, I'm Adam from Texas. I've poked around the forums for a few years as a huge fan of the LT5 and Corvettes all around. I finally got my hands on a 1990 ZR-1 that was saved from the scrap heap. It's kind of rough with a salvaged title, and I'm sure I'll offend some but my plan is to transplant the engine, transmission, and suspension into a 1957 Bel Air. Well, after I get my wife's 1955 Bel Air finished that is.

I got into performance with a 2002 Grand Prix GTP. That gave way to a 2003 Z06 and a the beginning of my Corvette fever. My wife understands - her dad has a 2002 Z06. I sold mine to help move into a house with a bigger garage and room to work on the 55. The attention you get in a trifive is addicting so I started planning a full-out custom of my own. My Z06 was too cherry to modify. I'm sure I will find out there is an LT5 multiplier on top of the Corvette multiplier for the cost of everything, but I'm excited to have Chevy's most iconic car with their most beautiful engine.

This is a very popular transplant and a really cool project. I have a fairly sizeable customer base for LT5 engine swaps, 55,56 & 57 Chevy, Camaro, and even a 59 ElCamino. What makes the swap more expensive, is when the engine is missing pieces, ECM, etc. You did the really smart thing by buying a donor ZR-1. It will pay huge dividends.

Have fun & keep us posted with photos.

That will be a fantastic mod. And, down the road, some of the parts from the donor Z may help finance your project. Good luck.

Can we get a number on the donor car so we can track that in the registry?

Hopefully Jerry who just finished a 57 ZR-1 will chime in here and let you know what you are going to run into.

Most of us are car guys so it wont bother us that you are transplanting an LT5.

Wow! What a classy install. And the colors! Good old Chevy orange never looked so good as when it's wrapped around THAT motor. Who's car is that?

Damn, good taste is alive and well. JMHO

Can't stop looking at that engine.

Wouldn't it be cool to flip that intake ducting around and install the air cleaners into the cool air just behind the grill?

That install does lool great. Maybe I should consider an LT5 swap into my Diamondback 57.

I agree Bob, flip those air clearers around for sure.
