Default Interest in windshield buy.

Alright, gang. I know MOM tried this out once before, but I have a hook-up that is attempting to get us a couple of runs of ZR1 windshields that would look nearly identical to the original LOF glass. We'd be looking at running some early year ones (with the larger radar cut out) and some later ones (with the smaller cut out). It would be a coated glass that would act exactly as ours do now, not a batch glass.

Would anyone be interested in such a deal?

Thank you for your efforts, Constantine! I would be interested to see if this would be possible. I would think that the cost per unit would be substantial and that govern what I could spend.

Yeah, I'm unsure about the cost of the windows, but I do know that when MOM was pursuing this last time, the cost was about $600. A far cry from $2800. We'll see what we can do, and get these things made. I guess if GM won't we'll have too, huh?

Thanks

Not to take the wind out of your sails, but I also tried in vain to find a manufacture willing to do it. I did not announce my efforts because I wanted to get it lined up before I said anything so as to not get everyones hopes up.

The major stumbling block was of course the film between the glass and the manufacturing run it would take to make it cost effective. The biggest problem was a liability vs. profit potential for the companies. That is not to say you should not continue your efforts because you never say never in my book. I suspect you would find that plenty of ZR-1 owners would be interested in a reasonably priced replacement for their windshields that are delaminating. Knock on wood, mine is prefect so far, but I was hoping to help out the guys who have had to buy regular C4 windshields because theirs were so bad.

So good luck, but don't be too disappointed if you run into the same wall Dave and I did. The effort is appreciated regardless of the result.

I would get in on this depending on price of course. I bought my ZR-1 with a stock windshield already installed.

Constatine,

I would be very interested as a rock hit my windshield on the way to the PNW Gathering last week.

Thanks,
