Power Seat Tracks
Anybody have a line on repairing non-working seat tracks for 90-96?
Picked up a pair of seats from a low mileage 90 wrecked parts car here on the registry and just got around ti doing the install and low and behold they skip going both forward and backward so they are completely inoperative at this point. Anybody have a line on replacements? I see Keen Corvette rebuilds them at $100 a pop, looking for options... Thanks folks, Gibby |

Re: Power Seat Tracks
I purchased rebuilt tracks from Keen and have had no problems. I believe that they are having the needed parts reproduced themselves, as I could not find any other source of repair or parts available, ANYWHERE, at the time that I was doing the research.

Perhaps this might help.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkherEznB08 If they are skipping it may be the transmission. Not cheap but may save cost and hassle of shipping. http://www.vette2vette.com/finder/parts Last edited by secondchance; 02-23-2013 at 09:45 AM. |

I just pulled it apart and the plastic housing inside the seat transmission enclosure is cracked allowing the seat slider fore and aft to skip over the nylon gear and not move. Found Keen Parts rebuilds them for 100 bux, looks like I'll go that route. Sad part is both sides arrived DOA on the seats they were bolted to, they came from a 27K mile 90 ZR-1 and the seat frames are nice looking and but for a few small marks on the drivers seat, seats truly look like they are from a low mileage car. I'll let you know how it turns out. Gibby (tow guy) |

At this stage more than anything age is what does in the plastic components of the seat transmissions. Same thing happened to my driver side seat transmission a couple of years back and I went with a Keen replacement with new plastic guts.

Gonna pull the second seat trans out and see if enough items can be swapped out to make 1 work and use that one for the passenger side which can stay in one position or I can save some weight and put a manual slider on that side. Thanks Phil, Gibby |
