Default Hydraulic throwout bearing?

Hi Again,

I am fitting a Fidanza alloy flywheel and I have been thinking of getting a twin disc clutch and converting to a hydraulic throwout bearing like the Tilton ones.

Anyone done this typr of mod who can recommend what works. Pics would be sweet as well.

Thanks

Matt

In this thread http://zr1.net/forum/showthread.php?t=15417 Pete made a recommendation for a twin disc clutch, with hydraulic TOB.

Yeah,what he said.

If your trying to piece together a dual disc clutch set upu it will cost you just as much maybe more with labor and trial fitting taking the trans off more then once if things don't go right.

Trust me when i say just spend a few extra bucks now and it will save you a bunch of headaches later.

Thanks guys - I'll give RAM a call.

I have a custom gearbox fitted so I basically need the same clutch set up as the ZR1 but the spline count is Toyota (21 teeth I think) so hopefully he can do me a custom centre hub.

Other than that, I will probably still want their same hydraulic throwout bearing they use in their kit. I will be on my own with how to connect it to the bellhousing though.

I was hoping I could get a clutch kit from one place. Does anyone have pics of the RAM throwout bearing to give me a bit of an idea how they connect to the bellhousing??

Thanks again.
Matt

It does not connect to the bell housing it slides over the input shaft/sleeve.

Yeah mate, I reallise that, I was meaning do they bolt to a bracket of some sort of just wedge against the bottom of input shaft sleeve or do they just push against the inside of the bellhousing? I'l look around on google for some pics.

My R154 Supra box has the identical OD input shaft/sleeve to the early ZF boxes that suit my motor which makes it that bit little easier. It is really just my clutch disc and hydraulics that are non-ZR1.

I still use the stock flywheel, pressure plate, clutch fork and throwout bearing at the moment.

Matt.

Okay, so it seems you can get both types bolt to bellhousing or just floating on the input shaft with a stud to stop it rotating.

Is this the type they use in the ZR1 clutch kit?
