Cabin noise. - ZR-1 Net Registry Forums

I know there are several companies out there that make a material that goes under the flooring to reduce noise in the car. Anyone have any ideas? I need everything sealed. The noise is so loud I have to turn the stereo up all the way just to hear it. The noise is not just road noise it is the DRM500 and exhaust.

you could try swapping the exhaust for a corsa or something like that and get rid of some of the drone

Talk to Rick at RAAM Audio, I installed his RAAMmat and Ensolite in my car, and it has provided some significant sound deadening. Granted, I also run a Corsa, but even with headers and no cats, it's very civilized at cruise and mild acceleration.

I have had two C4's, and the one before the ZR had completely factory pipes all the way to the mufflers (had borlas) and it droned like hell.

Corsa has actually acoustically engineered their pipes although it may not flow enough for a 500 hp car, but the most basic option may be to try to just install some cheap turbo mufflers since most of the drone comes from the muffler can itself to the floor board.

(either that or retire your 6th gear

)

I agree with Corsa, but add dynomat. I think I got mine from mid America

Wow what a difference!!! Pita to uninstall and reinstall, but worth it!

Depending on condition of your carpet, good time to install new carpet too

The purple beasty does resonate bad in 6th gear. One of the previous owners had a custom Double d exhaust. She lost 60hp. the triflow exhaust has to stay.

according to mark haibeck the corsa will outflow the 3" b&b

^^^ I've seen that article/ don't believe everything you read- as I have had both sets of pipes- The 3" B&B with an X pipe is good for about 1 mph more in the 1/4 mile over the Corsa on a car with stock cats, lightly ported, low 400hp LT5 at sea level (my car).

The 2.5" Corsa cuts better and more consistent 0-60 times though. With headers, the story might be different again, but the B&B was just too loud to even consider keeping, even at the expense of about 10hp on the top end of the power band.

Maybe it was because my acceleration testing was done on different days, but the peak HP will go to the 3" pipe. I've seen this on more than just the LT5. ET-wise, the 2.5" is just as good as far as I can tell.

some day I would like to run a 2 5/8's pipe set custom made.

SGC did most of the work so if the Corsa flowed better I cant believe they would not have installed the Corsa exhaust system. I ordered a Pre-cut and sheet insulation to install from corvette central. I figured I can install the precut than install the sheet over the top to make sure the seems are covered. the cost was just over 300.00 so if we drop the noise to less than 80db I could live with that. My Pacecar is 79db sealed up at 75 MPH.
