Default Well, learned something new...new to me anyway>>

The LT5 was used in the Corvette Indy II and sure enough looking at the picture you can spot the distinctive look of the LT5 in the mid engine slot>>>

Rather cool setup... AWD, active suspension, four wheel steering etc...that would have been one sweet car if it ever made it to production

Thumbs up Re: Well, learned something new...new to me anyway>>

Cool find thanks for the post up. I had seen a picture of that car before but had no idea it was LT5 powered. GC

I dont know why, but I see a lot of the 4th GEN 1993-02 F-body in that car. But here is no 1 part that screams 4th GEN F-body.

OK, now I'm going to have to go find more pics of that engine.
Looks "KINDA" like a LT5 but clearly it's not.

Clearly different than the twin turbo version that went into the CERVIII.

Corvette Indy with grey body, didnt run, 2.65l twin-turbo-V8
Corvette Indy 2, red body, ran with n/a LT-5.
Chevrolet Corvette CERV-3, with twin turbo LT-5 turbo 650hp/655lb/ft torque 225mph.

Hmmm..

CERVIII had a better location for the coils! UGLY but better for R&R.

GM has pissed away so many outstanding concept cars. They should have built the INDY. EVEN today they should build it.

I have a copy of Superauto Illustrated dated July 1986 that has the silver Corvette Indy on the cover.
On page 31 there's a picture of the car showing the engine bay and there's pieces missing on the picture on the link that was posted earlier by Mr. Hog.
There's another picture on page 29 that shows the motor out of the car but it has a different plenum.
The caption reads:
"The inspiration for the Corvette Indy was the four-cam engine developed for Indy car racing by Chevrolet"
It's not a LT5, not even close.

I'll have to figure out how to scan the pages without destroying the magazine or take a picture of them.
