Default Nitto 555R Tires - First Driving Impression

I had a set of Good Years on my Z before. I would spin in the first 3 gears. I couldn't even accelerate full throttle from a roll without the rear stepping out.

The Nittos are awesome. Just took the Z for a spin. I can accelerate now full throttle in all my gears and I have great traction. I'd highly recommend them for anyone under 425 RWHP.

The tires measure very close to a GSD 3 however, the tire is narrower and the tire is not "square" like the GoodYears. The sidewall is more rounded. Its noticeable but not to bad. I'd rather have traction anyday and for the price of $360 for 2, they are hard to beat.

Thanks to Marc Haibeck for recommending them.

xlr8nflorida - I appreciated your first impressions of the 555R, I wonder if you could post a follow up now that you've had them longer? I started a thread here:
http://www.zr1.net/forum/showthread....highlight=555r
and I was hoping to get opinions on the 555R vs the NT-05.

Did you run the 555R on all four wheels, or just the backs? How do they corner? Could you share your experience with the board so we can get reviews of both of these affordable tires in one spot to help make informed decisions? Thanks!

I put the same tires (Nitto 555)on my 91 Z & am having a bad time getting the vibration out. They have balanced the back 3 times & replaced the back tires for me. We balanced the front twice & it seemed to help a bit, between 72 to 78 mph it vibrates in the seat. Over 80 it seems to level out good, have to keep at it I guess. lorne
