Default Wear your helmet

It all depends on how quickly I can walk more freely and get down stairs. I am being told it's a 4-6 week process. This is my Trek 5.2 Madone. Carbon Fiber road bike. It's pretty super. 15lbs equipped. I was doing about 19mph when I hit a bump on the trail which deflected my wheel. That flopped me over and landing with a lot of weight on my hip. Fortunately, I also had my helmet on which saved my head from being cracked open.

Styrofoam is cracked through under the plastic casing. So it could have been much worse.
Wear your helmet!

Clint,

I did. It was a compression fracture at the neck of the hip ball. Got 3 pins holding things together to get bone to mend. Fortunately, everything remained in alignment. Pretty much ends my ZR season.

Jeez Dom, it was good that you were wearing your helmet.

Here's wishing for a speedy recovery for you.

Wow Dom so sorry to hear about your accident.

One of my ham radio pals (Dave - W9AD) did about the same as you on a ride he does every morning near his home in Barrington Hills.
Dave was going a bit slower and only got road rash and is mending now as well.
He too was glad he had his helmet on and always does on his bike rides.

Here is a link to his motorcycle racing page (he no longer races the motorcycles)
http://www.w9ad.com/racing.htm

On his antenna page you can see the wonderful home he has in the Hills.
http://www.w9ad.com/antenna.htm

Dave used to work in the AM Radio biz as a radio host but now is in the old family restaurant biz (his dad's biz b4 Dave got into it) and owns 15 Popeyees - 3 in Rockford and the rest in Chicagoland area.

He snowbirds to Morelia Mexico every winter.

and talks to us on the ham radio via his remote control station using Skype for audio link to the Hills home transmitter.

I talk with Dave on the ham radio often in the early morning just before he goes out for his daily bike ride.
BTW he used to be into boats and is a Ferrari owner as well.

Love my Trek. Really makes riding a lot of fun. I may stick to roads however if I'm looking for some speed.
