Front quarter panel molding
I had a self induced mess up over the weekend cutting the angle a little too sharp and touched the garage door opening. Lucky no body damage other than breaking the 3-1/2" trim piece at the front of the rear quarter panel. Ecklers sells this and shows it fits our cars but other sites show it for all C4's except ZR-1. Anybody know if the normal C4 piece is the same as ours?
Thanks

Re: Front quarter panel molding
Too many "Rusty Nails", eh? Or, mebby I have!
I'm having a little trouble envisioning zackly what 3-1/2" piece you're referring to... Are you talking about the little piece of BELT trim between the door and the forward side of the wheel well? A picture might help.

Re: Front quarter panel molding
Lost paint on the leading edge of the tire opening about 2" but the trim piece took the hit

Re: Front quarter panel molding
I believe Phil did something with these dog-leg moldings for '91+ cars.. A molding or just a retainer enhancement I don't recall but he should be along I'd think later.
I actually believe I may have a RH dog-leg molding for a '91+ I'll look later. They are very different. |

Re: Front quarter panel molding
I just spoke to the parts department at my local Chevy dealer and they said the regular C4 has part number 10146490 and the ZR-1 has part number 10135980. You also need the 2 nuts 11516066 but hopefully I can reuse the ones on the car. If anybody has suggestions, let me know.
Thanks

As you have discovered, that trim piece is ZR-1 specific. I know Phil had one by creating a mold but not sure which side or both sides. Talk to Phil. Also, if you have saved the broken piece, I may be able to remove left over piece from the car, JB weld broken piece, sand and refinish. Do you have both pieces? |

Re: Front quarter panel molding
Charlie,
Sorry about the bad luck. I went through the same quarter molding scavenger hunt a while back and came up with zilch. In my case I needed the drivers side which got caught on my trousers belt while existing the car. Thanks to Dave Johnson I now have a good doner from the passenger side to pull a mold from which I have been meaning to do anyway. Give me a few days and I'll have one ready for you.
