Default New key availability

Just went to ACE Hardware to get a spare key cut with the #3 resister for my replacement column I installed.
The lady behind the counter cautioned me that I need to have any keys I want cut very soon. ACE will no longer be ordering any VATs related key blanks. When their stock runs out, they will be no longer available.
So if you need a spare key, and you buy at ACE like I do, I would not recommend snoozing, you better get while the getting is good.

No worries... Several locksmiths have VATS keys still, AND I recently had one made for Ami's car at the local GM dealer (which also had a reader that would spit out the key blank (pellet) number.)

Attached is a chart with the VATS key blank numbers, arranged according to resistance ranges. So, with you VOM, read the resistance between the metal contacts on the VATS pellet and compare it to the chart to get the # and either a dealer or (most?) locksmiths can make you a spare.

Jesser's will likely always have them.
You can still get nearly every Corvette and other keys.
Even sells knock outs!
I am sure they cost more than ACE though.

I think I saw replacement VATS keys on Ecklers for ~$9.00 or so. Seemed like a decent price.
