Re: 1991 #472
1991 #472 is not listed in the registry. As to buying a “salvage” car it depends on a lot of things. As Marty points out value will be in the toilet and remain there. But as in all things if the price is right there might be hope as a driver/project car. The next question is why is it “salvage”, if it’s major accidents of flood damage run! However these days even minor issues, fender benders or attempted thefts may cause insurance to total a 30yr old car. So I guess if your looking for a cheap toy, (I’m talking 50% or less of retail value) and it has no major accident or flood damage it could be a project. If it were mine I would Part it out, it’s worth more.

The car is on e bay, take a look. Had the nose replaced in 2007. Receipts show all GM parts. Car was kept serviced by local Chevy dealership and has 20K miles on it. Red is not my thing, but for 11 or 12 grand you could drive it like you stole it.

Re: 1991 #472
20k in damage that probably mean half the car was replaced I guess if it was done right you will be good. If not guess you can always part it out.

I just had my car fixed after a fender-bender in April. (See photos) The main piece that was replaced was the front valence. The vast (vast) majority of the $12k bill was for labor and paint as the whole front end needed to come apart "to do it correctly." Paint the hood, the underside of the hood, head light buckets, remove all the wiring, replace the wiring, use correct zip ties/location, apply "correct" factory over-spray, front and side marker light....etc. The shop I took it to was VERY thorough and I was surprised at how much work a slight smoosh created. 20k is reasonable depending on the quality shop and the amount of damage. The "salvage" title designation is worrisome (My CarFax shows "Minor accident and it KILLS ME) but if the repair was quality and you plan on keeping the car, you may want to take a hard look. In any event.... INSPECT IN PERSON PLEASE!!!!
