Zip and Eckler?s both carry new reproduction actuators. A bit pricey at $200 but they work fine.

Concern is that plastic tends to get brittle with time. A few more bucks for brand new may be worth it. Just my 2 cents.

Problem solved!
Nut on top of shock was loose allowing crown/cup to move around. Tightened nut, cleaned actuator and electrical connectors with electrical contact cleaner and put back together. Cleared codes and went for a test drive. No codes returned and shocks appeared to respond to switch position. Always use the KISS method before you buy "not needed" parts... Many thanks to those who responded by PM and posts with parts availability and suggestions!

You can always tie a piece of string to it and run it into the car by your seat.
A gentle tug is all that is needed.  Doug, Glad to hear that you resolved it!!!!!!!!!!!!
