Default Mojave issues

Ran @ Mojave this weekend. Car ran great except. Rear brakes warped the rotors. This got worse after the 170 MPH run in the mile. Car ran 180.9 in the magnum. I think that if I would have held in 5th longer would have gotten another 5 MPH. It seem like maybe better ignition & it wouldn't lay down when I hit 6th. Was trying to shift @ 6800 to 7000 but didn't spend much time looking @ tack in 5th gear.

with stock gears you're looking at a .5:1 rear end, you're going to need some serious power to pull 6th with stock gears

Yeah, 6th is not a top end gear unless big numbers. 5th is it.

though, a stock car isn't going to hit 170 in a standing mile...least I don't think it will.

Stock and near stock Z's were in the 150's at the Vegas mile if memory serves... of course location/altitude is going to effect trap speeds a good deal.

Must have a ton of power and steep rear gears to even be contemplating using 6th in a mile run.

1994 admiral blue 410 gears, dual disc clutch, headers, top end ported, chip that goes full rich after 2500 RPM, Forced air system that gets air from center of front bumper straight to filter housing, Corsa exhaust, Cats have been gutted, Bilstein shocks machined by Bilstein to be coil overs, Wilwood 6 piston front brakes, back brakes Wilwood pads, Ron Davis radiator, short throw shifter, 1/2 tank 91 with 5 gal 109 gas. going through mile @ 6700 @ 169 mph in 5th. Used 6th for the magnum 1.5 mile. It seems like missing a little in 6th but still pulls. Car has 93000 miles on it & still has 220 plus compression in all cylinders.

If you want to gain a little more cut the spring in the thermostat, will drop engine temps down to 170-180 even in hottest weather at those speeds. Remember over 5800 rep no water through radiator it all goes through the bypass.

Very cool, your first post is the Mojave Mile!

Just sent the link to another person who raced in his Doug Rippie 383 C4...

Also great to see another Admiral Blue post up!

Does your car have black interior and does it have a Skinner package?

I have run several times with Mike Borders/Mojave Mile/Magnum(1.5mile)
He did the timing years ago in Vegas
I ran 169 at mile & 181 @ 1.5 mile, @ Mojvae, 4.10 gears/422 rwhp
Spaceport is @ 2700 elevation and normal adjusted altitude over a mile high
You do need 6th for 1.5 mile but car noses over even at 7200 in 5th going into 6th
170 mph wind resistance and .5 to 1 6th gear is the killer
6th is all about gas mileage not performance
Any tailwind that day?
Great speeds
