1989 ZR-1 Steering Rack - ZR-1 Net Registry Forums

This section has been quite for a month now and I felt that I needed to post something.

I just installed a used steering rack in my (non-Z) 1989. The rack came out of an early 89 ZR-1. (Hence the posting in the protorype section.) The original rack was leaking badly.
Wow, the steering is tight (as in very good feel). I do not know what the difference is between racks, if any, but the car sure steers well.

The car it came out of was a testing car of some sort. It had a strange rear end in that looked like one of the rear ends out of the active suspension cars. Anyone know who has these? I do not need the rear end, at least I do not think I need it. And could sell it.

BTW some of us are planning a 9-11 run West to East across the San Gabriel’s, past Mount Wilson and ending below Crestline. Depart at 9:11 on 9-11, a Sunday.
