Default Need Help to buy a ZR-1

Hi everyone, I'm new to this board. I would like to buy a nice ZR-1, I have a Z06 and love it and have always been intrigued by the ZR-1. I may have found a 4000 mile one , a 90 for $33,000. Is that a fair price? Do these cars have alot of problems due to their high tech engine etc. What are the common problems. Thanks!

Terry, It's a fair priice depending on condition. As faras common problem just visit around this web site, I even have a Common Problem page. :-) The ZR-1 isvery reliable, most issues are small and the LT5 engine should last over 200,000 miles.

Definitely check out all the comments throughout this site. Low mileage is not necessarily what makes a ZR-1 a good buy. Get history. Too few miles may mean the seals/gaskets/etc. haven't had enough lubrication and may need replacing. Keep in mind the '90 has a slightly different body style (older C4 front). '94/5 have higher HP and different seats and wheels. Personally, for $33,000 I would look for a nice '94 or '95, but I would be planning to drive it...not store it.

Z Factor

I agree with Dallas. If you can spend that much, get the newest model ZR1 that is in good condition.

Terry, I have two ZR-1s, a '90 and a '94. With 94000 miles on the '90 its stronger and just as nice o drive as the '94 with just 11000 miles. For me, reliability is not an issue, and these engines thrive on 7200 rpm blasts. So do I ! By the way, my '90 is for sale. Too many cars. Good luck, fun shopping.
