Bose Amps Replacement
I have a 1991 ZR 1. Recently, I had problems with sound sytem, making lots of noise. I was told it was the amps, would cost approximately $200 each to replace. I read in this forum you could send old amps to Bose and get them replaced. I called Bose, and they had new amps for $75 each and did not have to send old ones back. When I received them, I called a radio shop to get price to replace them in vehicle. They quoted $600. I decided to replace them myself, even though I had no knowledge of what I was doing. I downloaded some pics from internet. It took me less than 3 hours to replace them. Total cost for all 4, $300, plus shipping.

Glad to hear it worked out for you.
I assume your system now sounds like it should. |

Re: Bose Amps Replacement
I just had 5 amps done by Doctor Don's in Huntsville TX - they charge $75 each and give a lifetime warranty. Turnaround time was less than a week for shipping and shop work. Highly recommended ...

Re: Bose Amps Replacement
I sent mine off to bose on Monday. They told me to send the whole enclosures and they would replace the amps and speakers. Sending all 4 of them got me a price of $420. Figured after 16 yrs, the speakers could use replacing. The number is 800-766-9524. They no longer give a discount to .net members, but you get a discount on sending all 4 enclosures. I sent the stereo to Dr Don's.

Re: Bose Amps Replacement
Got the speaker enclosures back from Bose yesterday, not bad, 2 weeks from shipping to my receiving of them. Faster than I expected from Bose. New amps and speakers installed in all the enclosures. Man...didn't know what I was missing! Can't get it turned up more than halfway before being blasted out of the car. I must say, Bose makes some quality products. Here is one very satisfied customer.
The head unit went to Dr Don's and was a few days faster on the turnaround. Everything works great, looks like new and packaged very well to make sure nothing was damaged on the return trip. Can't say enough about both places to get your stereo refreshed! |
