Default ECM # Question

Comprehensive testing by two reliable sources ('Vette shop patronized for almost 10 years and a consultant in automotive scan tools) have indicated that I should replace (or possibly rehab my ECM). I am not ECM literate and have not yet acted on this recommmendation, but the snow's melting and days are warming....

If I choose to replace, how critical is it to match the numbers on my current ECM? (the "Serv. # is 01228331", and the "Part # (bottom line) is 16148441". I have not been able to match the part # on any of the websites I have checked so far, and hesitate to just pick one labeled "ZR-1".

It also appears that sending mine out for analyzing and repair is also somewhat of a crap-shoot. I would appreciate name/contact info. for any source you have found reliable. Thanks.

I'm putting together an ECM test bench and should have the capability in the future, unfortunately I just don't have it up and running yet. The hardware end of things is not that hard, but writing the windows software to exercise the inputs and outputs is going to take a little while.

Sorry, if I could help, I would in a heartbeat.

The service ECM is the substitute for previous ECMs but not vice versa. What exactly is happening with the ECM? Any chance you could swap in someone else's?

The only thing I am able to bring to this is a promise that IF I get my ECM back from the west coast any time soon I will lend it to you.

My spare ECM is configured for a 90 ZR-1, but if yours is a later car we can swap EPROM's and put my spare ECM in your car. I have a scanner with software & can bring that along also. The only thing I'm not certain of is what is your model yr because my software stops at 92 or 93....I'll go look at my software pkg & post up.

I have rebuilt ECM's in stock for immediate shipment, 12 month warranty too.

http://www.whiteracingproducts.com/i...roducts_id=174

01228331 & 16163993 are interchangeable.

If you want, you can also send us your ECM, i'll have it tested & IF it's good $100.00 is the test charge, takes 2 weeks to get back If it's bad, then it will be rebuilt.

Kurt, I have the OE ECM from my 90 that needs rebuilding. It sets a DTC 61 which is a secondary vacuum fault. May I ask if I could have mine rebuilt thru you also....please?

I could ship it with a postal money order for the $350.00 + $15.00 shipping in the box.

Not to clutter up the post but what about 94-95 ECM's? Are you rebuilding these also? My 94 # 16201461
