Default Diff Fluid Change

I'm changing my diff fluid this weekend now that the weather has warmed up. I bought Mobil 1 LS 75w-90 gear lube. My question is do i need a friction modifier or not? I've been reading around and can't find a clear answer to this.

One answer is that it is a limited slip diff so you need the friction modifier. The the part you referenced has 'LS' in the part number so I'm thinking that it is pre-mixed in the correct ratio.

If it was me...and i couldn't find documentation on the product to conclusively know one way or the other- I would fill the diff anyways and listen for the groan around corners. You could always buy the additive at any parts store usa for about $7 and put it in after-the-fact.

I don't think it will hurt anything on limited slip diffs, it is just noisy and sometimes you can feel the clutches grabbing a bit. If there are no side effects, you are done.

Default Mobile 1 75W-90 Differential Fluid

Says Limited Slip Friction Modifier Added right on the bottle
Apparently the label has been upgraded to LS on the new quarts of Mobile 1 75W-90.
The older variant of Mobile 1 75W-90 was the same stuff (Limited Slip Friction Modifier Added) without the LS Label.

Good time to add the Diferential Case Drain to make sure you get all the old differential fluid removed

See Item #4 LT5 Added Systems
