The American Le Mans Series will celebrate a historic and important anniversary season in 2008. As a sort of "sneak peak," the Series recently unveiled its 10th anniversary logo at its season-ending awards banquet following this year's finale at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. A full year of celebration and events is being planned by the American Le Mans Series, and the best part is that the Series - designed with a "For the Fans" approach - will involve its fans in the selection of memorable historic moments.

The first stage of the 10th anniversary year will include a progression of website-related fan balloting for both the greatest moments in American Le Mans Series history as well as the greatest drivers during its initial 10 years. Fans also will have a voice in a variety of other related categories such as memorable teams, races, race cars, rivalries and finishes.

The Series "Greatest Moments" will be determined in two parts. Initially, fans will be asked to vote as a means of narrowing a list of dozens of highlights over the last nine seasons. In step two, fans will be asked to vote from a shorter list of top nominees in order to determine the "10 Greatest Moments" in Series history.

The American Le Mans Series "Drivers of the Decade" will be selected from a list of more than 50 drivers who have at least 25 career starts in at least five seasons and who have a minimum of one victory. Fan balloting on americanlemans.com again will determine the top 10 "Drivers of the Decade."

Website balloting will begin the week of November 12 and conclude in January, 2008. These award-winning moments and drivers will be celebrated in various ways throughout the season, including special in-telecast features during American Le Mans Series televised coverage.

Additional elements of the Series 10th annual season will be unveiled between now and the season's inaugural event - the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring (March 15) - and as the 2008 Series' season unfolds.

The American Le Mans Series was launched in 1999 after the inaugural Petit Le Mans in October of 1998. The Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring run March 20, 1999 was the Series' debut event for the Don Panoz-originated series.

An electronic version of the American Le Mans Series' 10th Anniversary logo and style guide is now available for download.
