Oil Pressure Regulator Cover
I have an oil leak on my 90 model. Based on where the oil is leaking I believe it is likely caused by the oil pressure regulator cover being loose. On Marc Haibeck's document he states that you can't see the cover with the engine installed and need to jack up the right front of the engine to reach the cover. My question is what do you need to loosen or remove in order to jack up the right front of the engine?
Thanks for your advice. |

Re: Oil Pressure Regulator Cover
I had this oil leak recently. My car is now at Marks shop getting upgrades so all of this is from memory. You can jack the engine up farther than imaginable with a jack and 2x4 under the oil pan
I took out the k brace but I don't think it's absolutely necessary. Remove the left and right side nuts that are on the engine studs coming thru the frame. [the studs with the heat shields and rubber mounts]. You can jack the engine up until the studs are all the way out of the frame, stop jacking before the valve cover hits the firewall. Take passenger side inner fender well out [just the piece in the middle of the well]. Look closely with some light You should now be able to see regulator cover plate, [front of the engine just above the oil pan on passenger side]. Use ratchet, lots of extensions and a couple of swivels. Get socket on bottom bolt and tighten. I only got about 1/2 turn on just the bottom bolt but it stopped my leak. I thought this leak was impossible to get to, but after mark told me how to do it, it can be done. I also have a Quick Lift that helped a lot. Good luck and be careful. Jim |

Re: Oil Pressure Regulator Cover
The oil regulator cover was tight so the search for the leak goes on.

The bottom bolt on the oil regulator cover was a tad loose, but I think my culprit was the front pan bolts. One was actually missing! Went ahead and torqued all of the pan bolts while I was down there. Dry as a bone now!! Have heard of a leak from some of the exhaust studs, but I have not had this issue.
