Help, my new Z stumbled on the highway.
Ok Im new to having a zr (6 days) and had an issue, heard you guys are the ones to ask . Cars been great until on the highway in full power I stand in it in 3rd at 50-60 miles and hour and it studders then creapping allong on the highway it does the same thing while the service light comes on??After limping it back to work 2 miles it cleared up and was back to running smooth and after parking it for a few hours when I headed home the service light was gone? NO volt issues, no heat issues, no oil pressure issues, Just not sure what to start with ?

Re: Help, my new Z stumbled on the highway.
The best diagnostic tool to have is a paper clip.
Unbend the paperclip so it is in a "U" shape. Plug it into the ALDL ports (port in the drivers side footwell) A-B. This will hit the ecm codes which will be stored. trun the key to "run" Count the pulses. flash.... flash flash is a code 12 which means it is entering the system. Anything after that is a code(s) which will help troubleshoot. My best guess is your secondary system is at fault, hence the stumble at WOT. |

The paperclip thing Jeff said will take you 30 seconds. You'll know a lot more from those two digits of the troublecode.
What does "hook it" mean?

NewZpilot, I know this is "off topic" but can you check the front fog light area of your see and tell me if the black area around your fog lights has any white overspray paint on it like mine?

Ok no paint overspray and found out at GM sat may car pulled a code 31 or a cam sensor. Since the light went out they claim wait till it fails and then fix it????

My car did the say exact thing, took it to the dealer and had the injectors flushed while the fuel was cut off. Put on a new fuel filter, new plugs gapped .50 and the car runs like a top.=D>
